Companies are using technology in a number of ways to improve workflow efficiency and reduce costs, as working habits change and businesses adapt in the digital age.

“Very consistent” enterprise workplace systems market; mid-market space more volatile

Third Bridge Forum spoke to a former senior director at LogMeIn to discuss TeamViewer – which provides remote desktop software and support – and the competitive environment in which it operates.

In the enterprise space, TeamViewer and LogMeIn represent a “huge chunk” of market share, each with about 30-40% for remote support. Rounding off the three main players is BeyondTrust, formerly Bomgar. Overall, the market is “very consistent”, with seemingly limited room for growth beyond current rates. However, there may be more to play for as large enterprises with a global presence use more than one vendor.

The mid-market space, defined by the expert as companies with under 1,500 employees, is much more crowded and volatile. Customers are more cost sensitive and “really change on a dime”.

Meanwhile, the Internet of Things (IoT), while in its relative infancy, is “definitely something to keep a strong eye on because that can add a lot of value”, he added. The concept is gaining traction and represents a “big movement for a lot of organisations”.

As companies struggle to keep track of the devices brought in by their employees – as well as the many others used in a work context – ancillary products such as those related to IoT will increasingly be seen as a differentiator.

The Interview also covered win rates in the enterprise versus mid-market sector, past and current trends in average deal sizes, the typical margin for enterprise deals, and other price-related observations.
